RSI / PSYCHWARD - "HOLLOW ALTAR" CS.

This is a 20 minute recording of our first jam. I make some Nintendo bloops and Tommy mixes/fucks with them as well as doing some synth and Walkman damage. 30 copies on recycled tapes, split release w/ Magik Crowbar.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

RSI / MITCHELL BRENNAN SPLIT C20.

The split between Reunion Sacred Ibis and Mitchell Brennan is now available. Split released by Magik Crowbar, Trinidad & Tobago and Altered States Tapes. Mitch's side is a highbrow frequency tour and mine is some lowbrow smuttery, so I guess it evens out. Both sides recorded in '09. Available from all three of us for five buccks.

BRASSSKULLS - 'LAST SKULLS' CD-R.

This is the last recording from Newcastle knuckleheads, Brassskulls. Not as industrial and heavy as their previous output, this slab comes closer to the stuff Mitch and Mikey are doing now. Not sure who is making what sound, but it is some cool shit. Processed vocals and blurts of harshness abound. 40 copies, sprayed CD-R's.

SOME BOOTLEGS.

Here are some short things cut from bootlegs over the last month. My gear screwed up at Skelton's, so it wasn't really what I was going for. The two others are from some shows with Mitchell Brennan. We're going to do a CD-R on Trindidad & Tobago at some stage.

RSI - SKELTON'S HOUSE, 16/10/10

RSI - "LIVE IN CROATIA" CD-R / DOWNLOAD

Live recording from the Croatian Club in Newcastle during the TINA weekend. Starts off shakily, improves a little as it goes on. I made a couple of CD-R's, send me an email if you want one. Otherwise here is a download link.

SKELTON'S HAUS II.

RSI - Me doing bloops and loops w/ tapes and Nintendo.

Radical Creation - Processed loops of vocal fukkery amidst glorious electronic damage.

Galactagogue - Electronic and vocal abuse from everyone's favourite long-haired noise warrior.

Undecisive God - Clinton Green's dense turntableisms / headscrewisms.

Dick Threats - Excellent industrial duo. Loud, harsh and catchy.

If I can get someone else to play, I might bail out of doing my thing. Regardless, this show is going to rule. It's a house show and it's FREE.

SKELTON'S HAUS.

Dead Boomers are the best band in Australia at the moment, so you should come for them if nothing else.

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

LAKES - "LIVE @ S&G" C40.

Great quality live recording from the Lakes LP launch at Sunshine + Grease on the 26/03/10. The set is mostly made up of newer material. Blownout guitar and pounding drum machinations channeled into downer raga jams. Sprayed tapes, cover by Matt.

Heaps more releases in the next few months. No more live recordings for awhile, more noise.

Sunday, September 19, 2010

INCOMPETENT CERVIX - 03/07/10 CD-R OUT.

Incompetent Cervix are a Melbourne duo comprised of Mark Skelton (Y35.3, Galactagogue) and Mitchell Brennan (Brassskulls). Harsh electronic terror is the name of their game. This is a recording of their second show at Sunshine + Grease earlier in the year. Edition of 40 copies, sprayed CD-R's.

Saturday, September 11, 2010

NEW TAPES.

Two new tapes:

Pissbolt - Live Kvlto Thrash c34

Live recording of second last show by the excellent Melbourne noise thrashers.

Dotabata - Fatigue and Malaise c20

A-side: Harsh, glitchy electronics. B-side: Field recordings + brutality.

Both are out now, $5 or trade.

THIS IS NOT TINA SHOWS.

Every year the This Is Not Art festival occurs in Newcastle and heaps of bottom feeding hippies trawl in to town to gypsy dance in Civic Park. Every year the shows that happen outside of the festival program are better than the 'official' ones and this is the case this year more than ever.

Vox Cyclops are having some fuckin' great shows on Friday - Sunday, from 1pm - 7pm.

The lineups are as follows:

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1ST:

DEAD BOOMERS
RSI
INAPPROPRIATE TOUGH GUY BEHAVIOUR
PSYCHWARD CULT
DEFAULT JAMERSON
BAT YOGHURT

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2ND:

PATHETIC HUMAN
BUTLER/BRENNAN DUO
PREHISTORIC FUCKIN' MORON
DO NOT RESUSCITATE
SPARTAK

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3RD:

HORSE MACGYVER
RATS WITH WINGS/RDUNCAN
ANAL CUM WOLF
STITCHED VISION
CISTERN CORRUPT

Also, The Sunset Flips might be playing a house show in a basement on the Monday. We'll see what happens.

NEWCASTLE HOUSE SHOW - 28/05/10

Kerry is having a few peeps playing at his place on Friday and I happen to be up in Newcastle visiting my mum, so I'm going to play too.

STITCHED VISION - Mind-melting synthesised bliss drone from ex-guitarist of James Dean/The Let-Go, Jason Campbell. His new tape is the best shit.

BARE GRILLZ - New Newcastle band featuring a great guy called Rob and two other guys. I harshed on someone describing them as a "noise band", so they think I hate them. I was more so paying out the uselessness of the descriptor "noise band". Well, apparently they sound like Abe Vigoda.

REUNION SACRED IBIS - I'm going to play tekkers noise and I assume everyone except Mycle and Senger are gonna walk out.

After this Royal Headache, Dead Farmers, Bed Wettin' Bad Boys and some other fella are playing up the road. Should be sick.

Friday, May 21, 2010

'MINIMAL TEKKERS' STUTTER - 09/06/10

WET PATCH (JON DALE AND FJORN BUTLER)
HRVATSKA (MITCHELL BRENNAN AND LACHLAN GALE)
REUNION SACRED IBIS (BLOOPER BLOWMAN)

On Wednesday the 9th of June, Stutter plays host to some goofballs who like making bloops and bleeps. Will upload the dodgy flyer if I can be bothered later.

Entry: $10 / $5 concession
Bands start around 8:45

DEAD BOOMERS LIVE CD-R OUT.

Two bullshit heavy live bootlegs from Dead Boomers shows in '09. The first shows them in full chain draggin' mode at Horse Bazaar, the second is their ear-splitter w/ Lloyd Honeybrook from What Is Music? at the Old Bar. If you have ever beheld these guys live, you know what to expect. CD-R's are $4 from me or a couple of bucks more from Missing Link and Sunshine + Grease. This is the first release from my (literally) full hard-drive of bootlegs. More soon.

SUNSET FLIPS CD-R.

The Sunset Flips is me and Mycle being morons together and recording it. All future releases will be wrestling themed, starting with the NEW JACK tape out on Grog Pappy soon (maybe). I made ten or so copies made of this for our buddies. These two-trax are from our first jam and it's kinda obvious. Download at yer own risk.

THE DEADBEATS.

My dad played guitar in a punk/blues band in the 80's called The Deadbeats. This is a ripping cover they did of the traditional Black (Is The Colour Of My True Love's Hair) culled from a 1982 live set at Norths Leaugues Club in Newcastle. It's much more Throb than Patty Waters (both of whom recorded ruling versions of the song). He did a punk zine called Zoned in this period, as well as contributing to another called Colostomy. I'm going to photocopy some ish's of these soon if anyone is interested.

Features (amongst others) Occult Blood, Cock Safari, Psychward, Mshing, Unique Oil Free Air and Anal Cum Wolf. Tommy chucked the bootleg from my first show on there too. RSI - ANTIKYTHERA 3" CD-R OUT.

This has a few older things that sound nothing like what I've been blooping lately. Recorded using DS, the effects on my four-track and a radio on one of 'em. Pretty much just my continuing search for extra-terrestrial life. This is out now on Newcastle label, Monstera Deliciosa and is available from either there or me for 6 bux posted. Or better yet, trade me something sick. Artwork by Mycle.

M-SQUARED MELBOURNE TOUR.

The recently re-formed Makers Of The Dead Travel Fast and Scattered Order MK1 are coming down to play some select dates in Melbourne this week. If you are not familiar with the M-Squared label for whom both bands recorded/ran, you should acquaint yourself. I helped organise some stuff for this, but due to my full-time job and venue bookers being slack getting back to me, I haven't been as involved as I would have liked. If you are interested in Australia's experimental/electronic history, these shows should not be missed.

UPCOMING SHOW + VIDEO

I'm playing at Vox Cyclops next Sunday afternoon with COCK DRILLER (COCK SAFARI + DRILLBIT) and maybe some other homos. It's in celebration of the RSI 3" coming out on Monstera Deliciosa soon. Should be sick.

Here's some scintillating footage Grant shot of my 4:20 (no joke) long set at Round & Round. I got shafted from Summer Winds, so this ended up being my first show.

RSI / RV SPLIT REVIEW

From the excellent Tape Piss blog:

"This split tape is titled African Goods, a side each of horrid ceremonial gurgling, spitting and scraping from two Australian necrophiliacs (this may not be true). The Royal Vomit side opens with a heavily treated Morricone line (Good, Bad, Ugly) that conveys desolation and destitution (lots of reverb, warping of the notes). It would make a great sample for a sci-fi Western (something a little more elaborate than Back To The Future 3). The remainder of his side introduces harsher feedback tones and looping to less effect. Reunion Sacred Ibis is the elaborate appellation of Mr. Cooper Bowman, who confided his approach: take one Nintendo DS, download one program, and manipulate the range of sounds that said program allows. My Nintendo DS is strictly used for Brain Training and Chess Tactics; the fact it could be used for such nefarious purpose has no doubt lead to social upheaval in less tolerant societies. His side focuses more on the fluctuating spasms of digital squealing, offering the discomforting alarm that a skipping DVD at crucial moment of movie can offer: image jumping forward and backward in time and speakers elicit nanosecond blasts of audio. He named a song / composition / ditty after a PKD novel (Time Out Of Joint), so maybe picture the paranoia of that book's protagonist, and here is the soundtrack."
